Cinema beneath the palaver tree.
Ciné-Peenc aims to reconcile communities with cinema by championing popular, neighbourhood-based film culture — through clubs created in partnership with sports associations, cultural collectives and women's groups.

Ciné-Peenc seeks to forge a direct link between films and audiences, making cinema accessible to all. These film clubs serve as platforms to raise community awareness on a wide range of topics through screenings.
After each screening, debates are organized to tackle key societal issues, with the inclusive participation of all stakeholders: state authorities, civil society (neighbourhood chiefs, badienou gokh), experts, and citizens.
In the long term, the goal is to develop a new system of cinematic distribution that allows works to circulate better and supports the reopening of cinema theaters. In parallel, training programs will be offered to develop film industry professionals.
Films as the starting point — debates as the destination.
Launch scheduled for April 2025.
Ciné-Peenc is moving forward fast. We've already established contact with the presidents of the ODCAVs, as well as with sports associations, cultural collectives and women's groups in each participating region.
A pilot phase has been carried out in the areas of Mbour and Nguekhokh, where the pre-launch took place. To date, 15 sports associations, cultural collectives and women's groups have responded positively to this call.
Setting up Ciné-Peenc in these areas will mark the beginning of screenings and debates — helping reconcile communities with cinema and stimulating an economy around Senegal's creative and cultural industries.
